Former striker Antonio Cassano thinks Erling Haaland still needs to improve to become a perfect striker.
“There are strikers who really know how to play like Robert Lewandowski or Karim Benzema. But Haaland is not. He is a phenomenon and a good goalscorer. But Haaland doesn’t know how to play,” Cassano shared on Bobo TV on April 14.
The former Italy international also compared Haaland with other famous strikers like Adriano or Zlatan Ibrahimovic: “Haaland reminds me of Adriano when he was still playing for Inter Milan. It can also be said that Haaland is a combination of Ibrahimovic and speed. Adriano’s level, although Ibra is more technical than Haaland. Also, I also see him as a mix of Adriano and Christian Vieri.”
Haaland is the top scorer in the top 5 European national championships with 45 goals in all competitions, including 30 in the Premier League. The Norwegian striker is four goals behind to equal Alan Shearer and Andy Cole’s record of the most goals scored in a single Premier League season (34 goals). There are still 9 games left for Haaland to do this.
In September 2022, Cassano did not appreciate Haaland as much as teammate Julian Alvarez. The former Italy international said that the former Dortmund star “could score 90 goals in a season and be physically fit, but Alvarez is a player of better quality”.
Alvarez is also having an impressive season in his first year playing in the Premier League. The Argentinian international has 13 goals in 27 games for Man City in all competitions this season.
Man City will welcome Leicester City in round 30 of the Premier League at Etihad on the night of April 15 (Hanoi time). On April 20, coach Pep Guardiola and his team went to Germany to play the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.
