Halo: A Story of Hope and Resilience

In today’s world, there are few things more inspiring than seeing an innocent animal in need and the people who selflessly devote themselves to rescuing and rehabilitating them. Such was the case with Halo, a furry little pup who was abandoned, blind, sore, and starving.

Fortunately, her plight was discovered by a member of the Lucky Dog Refuge in Stamford, Connecticut, who recognized the dog’s need for help and did everything in their power to ensure she received it.

When Halo was discovered, she was curled up on the forest floor with a completely lost look in her eyes that indicated her blindness. She was also emaciated from hunger.

However, with a little tender loving care, lots of love, compassion, and a few McDonald’s ice cream cones, the dog gradually began to reveal herself exactly as she is.

According to a local media outlet, the young animal was abandoned in the middle of the greenery, lying on the ground in a ball, most likely simply waiting for death to end her suffering.

The milky tone of her pupils revealed her blindness. One of the volunteers tried to encourage her with food so she would get up and leave the site on her own. When Halo stood up, they realized why she was so frail: she was just skin and bones.

Because the rescue team decided that if it became impossible to treat her, they would put her to death with dignity, they named her Halo, which means “halo” in Spanish.

The truth is that she was clinging on far too tightly, and it did not seem fair to them to prolong her misery. “We did not think it was fair to put her through more than she was already going through. If it came to it, we would put her to sleep,” said one of the rescuers.

Halo began to advance and heal gradually, as if by miracle, with every chance of living a normal life again. She moved in with a foster family to begin her medical therapy.

Her health was in poor shape when she arrived, according to Stacey, her foster mother, but no one at the shelter hesitated for a second to help her with anything.

Halo leapt onto Stacey when she was ready to move, expressing immense delight in experiencing the love of human warmth, which she selflessly demonstrated to whom she had never experienced it before.

Hugs, kisses, caresses, and snuggling were few and far between. “Despite her vision impairment, the dog made progress in her recovery and is a very lively fluffy dog, loving of cuddles and clever. She enjoys eating her favorite ice cream cones on the couch,” her carer observed.
