Cheers to Bully the Chihuahua: Celebrating His 23rd Birthday and Extraordinary Life as the Oldest Pooch in Rescue History
Do you recall what you did on your 23rd birthday? Personally, I can’t say I remember much aside from partying with my pals and indulging in different types of alcohol.
No regrets, but let me give you a piece of advice: never mix wine with anything – trust me on this one. Moving on, have you ever wondered what a dog’s birthday party would look like?
If so, you’re in for a treat! We’ve previously shared some examples of canine celebrations here on Bored Panda, and today, I’m excited to bring you yet another one.
This time, we’re celebrating the momentous occasion of Bully the Chihuahua reaching the ripe old age of 23 – that’s over 100 years old in dog years! Let’s dive into the heartwarming story.
Happy Birthday, Bully – may you enjoy many more happy years with your loving family!
Bully the Chihuahua just turned 23, which is quite an achievement for a dog of his age.
While most dogs his age are finishing up their studies and planning for the future, Bully is content to live out his golden years as a 104-year-old in human years, lounging around and snacking on treats.
Of course, no birthday is complete without a party, and Bully’s owners made sure to throw him a celebration he wouldn’t forget.
They decorated with big balloons and gave him a bone-shaped treat with fancy icing that read “Happy Birthday.”
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the celebratory naps that followed. Chris Hughes and his wife Mariesa are the proud owners of The Mr. Mo Project, a private senior dog rescue where Bully and four other elderly pups aged 20 and over reside.
Despite his age, Bully is still going strong and enjoying life to the fullest.
The adorable little pup made his entrance into the world on the 5th of April in 1999 and was taken in by a loving family who cared for him for 21 long years.
Meet Bully, the adorable Chihuahua who was born on April 5, 1999. He has had a fantastic life so far, and we’re pretty sure he would agree that the early 2000s were an amazing time.
He was born into a loving family and enjoyed playing outside and going for runs in the local park, where he made plenty of friends.
However, as his previous owner grew older, they could no longer care for him. Luckily, Bully found a new home with Chris and Mariesa at the rescue.
According to Bully’s former owner, he is a “big dog in a little dog’s body,” and Chris quickly realized that despite his age, Bully hadn’t changed one bit from the young pup he once was.
Chris described Bully as feisty, naughty, sweet, independent, gentle, calm, and possessing an old man bark. Even at the age of 23, he still doesn’t hesitate to push around the other Chihuahuas residing in the Hughes household.
Although it is sad that his previous owner couldn’t take care of him any longer, Bully has found his way into the hearts of the Hughes family.
The Hughes family is behind the Mr. Mo Project, a non-profit organization that rescues senior dogs and aims to give them a loving and secure environment to call home.
The project brings together older dogs in need of rescue, with the hope of offering them a brighter future.
The Mr. Mo Project is an admirable initiative, and Bully is just one of the many success stories they have been able to.
